First Fall

Fall is the BEST time of year! And it's even more magical with a baby. We always take a drive up Alpine Loop in October and it never disappoints! This year, we picked the perfect weekend to go because every color was represented in the canyon. Reds, yellows, oranges, greens. It was pretty chilly, but Mason was so happy sitting there in all of the leaves (trying to eat them, of course). I am so excited to take him to a pumpkin patch this month! I haven't been to one in forever and, now that we have Mason, we have no excuse!

Briar Handmade has the cutest collection of fall bonnets and they just released their animal bonnets! My favorite animal bonnet is the white bear. Any of the new animals would be perfect for Halloween costumes! I love Mason's bonnet from their fall collection, it goes with everything and keeps his ears warm! Here is a link to the Schoolhouse bonnet that Mason is wearing.

Time for pumpkins, apples, colorful leaves, and, most importantly, cute booties! Yay for fall!

Summer is for Smock Dresses

This summer, Isaac, Mason, and I have been living in Texas while Isaac has been doing an internship. Texas is hotter than hot in the summertime, and so humid. The second you step outside, your clothes stick to you. SO, smock dresses have been my JAM. They are in my top 3 favorite things about summer.

1) Getting a tan
2) Outdoor concerts
3) Wearing smock dresses every day

Nothing like a flowin' cool breeze when it's 90+ degrees and crazy humid. Seriously.

Boho Market

We have been in Dallas this summer, and every Saturday we try to get out to explore! We have been to the Boho Market twice now and it is so fun. Local vendors come together to sell their handmade/vintage goods, and there is tons of food (which is my love language)!

These popsicles are Peaches n' Cream and they are out of this world good. If you're ever in Dallas or San Antonio, look up Steel City Pops and go grab yourself a little piece of heaven!

Right next to the market, there is a garden store and greenhouse. DEAD. It was so stinking adorable! If you know me, you know that plants make my heart sing. I wanted to scoop up all the cute fiddle leaf figs and take them home with me. The gift shop had the best home decor, and I was silently crying because they don't ship out of state!

Isaac got me a peony. Another thing that makes my heart sing...single blooms wrapped in brown paper.

Mason is such a little trooper, he lets us drag him all around on the weekends. I love Saturdays with my two favorite people.

Mason's Newborns

Even before I was pregnant, or thinking of having a baby, or even knew Hunter, I knew I wanted her to photograph our baby's newborn session. She brings a fresh take to traditional photos. I'm so glad that we became such great friends and that she's not tired of us yet (she also photographed Mason's birth and our anniversary photos last year)!

I can't believe Mason was ever this little. We also snuck in some photos of just Isaac and I, and I'm so glad we did! Here are some of my favorites from our session:

See ya later, BYU

(written a year ago)

Here I am...sitting in Brigham Square just like I have so many times before. I've been here on multiple occasions...as a little girl, as a teenager, as a college freshman, as a girl falling in love, and, now, as a full-grown, pregnant twenty-one year old girl (I still can't call myself a woman...it sounds weird) graduating from the college of her dreams in just two short weeks. Sometimes if I think about it too much, tears well up in my eyes. Mostly because I'm happy. Happy about what this place has given me. But also sad...because I've had some of the best times of my life with some of the best people I've ever known, right here on this campus...and that is a chapter that soon will close.

You see, BYU is not just a school to me. It has been a huge part of my life. The experiences that my parents had here set our family up to be successful, spiritually and temporally.

A few memories I never want to forget...

1. Sitting with my parents in the Heritage Halls courtyard as we said goodbye and thanking them for everything they had done to get me to that point.
2. Gaining the freshman 15 when I never thought it would happen to me. I guess goldfish, toast, and mint Hershey's kisses don't constitute a balance diet...who knew?
3. Having lunch with Jason and Matthew every Friday freshman year, some of the best friends a girl could ever have.
4. Dance parties with my roommates in the pint-sized kitchen of our first apartment.
5. Watching cars get stuck in a particularly icy spot right outside our apartment window with Marissa, Micaela, and Lindsay. Hours of free entertainment.
6. Becoming friends with Rachel, who has taught me more about caring for others than she will ever know (and who also contributed immensely to my freshman 15 by feeding me Oreos every night as we watched Pretty Little Liars).
7. The south campus flight of stairs that seemed higher than Mt. Everest.
8. The sporting events, where the fans are loud and the fight song is heard.
9. Taking the LDS Marriage & Family class on campus, which I took exactly one semester before I met my eternal companion.
10. Watching, out of the corner of my eye, my (then) future husband walk into BNSN W111, and sit right next to me.
11. The blocks surrounding campus where we held hands and talked about our future.
12. The lawn outside my chemistry classroom where we met up and couldn't stop talking long enough to actually go to class.
13. Celebrating with my hot fiancè the day he made the BYU football team.
14. Moving into our first apartment together in the fall right across the street from this beautiful campus.
 15. Making lifelong friendships with couples who have been so kind to us.

This time is so bittersweet. It is sad that I will never be a student again in my life, and that this experience, which I waited my whole life for, is coming to an end. On the other hand, I'm happy.  I've worked really hard to get to this point and am excited for what the future holds for me. I will never forget the feeling I have when I am here. I felt it as a child, and now as an adult. This sure is a special place, and there is no other campus in the world like it.

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes....

Surprise! Today we announced that we are expecting our first little nugget this coming December! Isaac and I are beyond excited...so excited that we already know the name of our baby (depending on the gender)! We have been so thankful for the outpouring of love and congratulations we have received. Even in the short amount of time that I have been pregnant, I have already felt an increase in love for my sweet husband and a place in my heart has formed for our cute little gummy bear. Isaac is going to be the best dad and I'm so lucky to be married to him! I will post a first trimester update soon, once I take a bump picture! I can't believe I haven't taken one yet! Most days I think its mostly just a food baby, but there definitely is a little something there! Thank you to everyone for your sweet words!
