pocket of blossoms: 7 ways to survive finals week

the most wonderful time of the year is upon us, but before we can get to that part, us college students have to get through the most miserable time of year... f i n a l s  w e e k.

who likes finals? raise your hand.
*no one raises their hand*

yeah, that's what i thought....

so here are a few things that i have done in the past to help me survive... f i n a l s  w e e k.

1. plan plan plan-- finals week feels like a sudden tsunami of assignments all crammed into a couple days. i've found that if i plan out what subjects i am going to study each day, what i'm going to do to study for those subjects, and what days i'm going to take each test, then i feel much more relaxed. the week before plan out your schedule for finals week, hour by hour.

2. don't sleep in & go to bed, for goodness sakes!-- just because you don't have scheduled classes, doesn't mean that you can sleep in until the afternoon. stick to the schedule you planned. go to bed and wake up at the same time that you normally would. you'll feel more rested. early bird gets the worm, ya know what i'm sayin'!

3. food and watah--pack snacks, meal prep, buy food on campus...anything! just make sure your fed and that you stay hydrated, that way you'll be able to stay energized during your long study hours! and by making sure your fed, i mean healthy things. junk is no good. college students have a nasty habit of eating food that does absolutely no good for your body because it's convenient. give yourself the best chance by making healthy choices.

4. exercise--this is probably my favorite tip. as soon as you wake up, put on your running shoes and get moving! you'll be happier, i promise! exercise relieves stress and wakes you up for a long day ahead.
"exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy, happy people just don't shoot their husbands."
name that movie!

5. have a clean workspace--wherever it may be, make sure you have a clean and clear space to study in. you won't be as easily distracted and you'll be able to focus on what you're studying.

6. netflix-- because you scheduled your day out so perfectly and got an early start, make sure you have an hour to relax before you start getting ready for bed. take some time to unwind. watch netflix. sip some hot chocolate and snuggle up with a blanket. blast your favorite song and shake what yo mama gave you with your roommates! anything that keeps your mind off of finals for just that little amount of time.

7. try your best--like my great-grandma erna always says, "try your best and forget about the rest!" if you're trying your best, then your mind will be at ease at the end of the week, no matter what the outcome. try your best, because that's all you really can do!

hope these tips will help you to have a great end to the semester!
may the curve be ever in your favor.
