Sunriver Resort VIDEO | Edmonds Family Vacation 2015

sunriver resort

Last week, Isaac and I went with my family to Sunriver, Oregon and spent the week at Sunriver Resort. When I think of "resort," I usually think of tall hotels on a beautiful beach, but this resort was even better than that. Sunriver offers hiking, kayaking, biking, tennis, golf, swimming, eating, rafting, paddleboarding, horseback riding...the list goes on and on. The resort is so spread out and beautiful, it never felt too crowded. We rented bikes for the week and rode everywhere we wanted to go! An adorable, orange cruiser with a basket? Talk about a dream come true! My family rented the most beautiful house with a wide driveway for four-square domination, a fire pit for s'mores, and a backyard hot tub. We would go outdoors and do an activity during the day, and then at night we would relax at the house or bike to the Village in the center of the resort. The Village had restaurants, an ice cream shop, live music, shopping, bumper cars, mini, golf, trampolines, and a cute little train. One of the highlights from the trip was sneaking away for an evening bike ride with Isaac. We rode all the way to the opposite end of the resort to the field where the horses were kept. The sunset was gorgeous and the scenery was absolutely dreamy! We fed the horses and petted them. It was so fun! None of us wanted to leave, we had so much fun! I could write all day about how beautiful Sunriver was and what a good time we had, but instead I made a video...way more entertaining than my blabbering! Hope you enjoy it!

Choose Happy

choose happy

This picture has been sitting in a drafts folder since December of last year! I knew I would eventually want to post it, so I held onto it.

As humans, I think it's in our nature to draw close to whatever makes us happy. We like chocolate because it tastes yummy and makes us happy. We are drawn to positive people because they make us laugh or smile. We are on one big pursuit of happiness!

I've been thinking a lot about happiness and how happiness can be found. While I believe there are a couple vital things that guarantee happiness in our lives, I think that it all begins with our outlook. I remember in high school I posted a Facebook status that I hadn't had a good day in such a long time (so dramatic, I know). One of my ballet teachers commented on it and said something like, "It's all what you make of it!" That has always stuck with me!

I think that happiness can be achieved when we commit to positivity. Choose happy. Don't be discouraged by little things. Smile more often. Be more patient...like I said in my marriage post, dri-fit shirt! ;) Serve others. Love your family. Find something to be grateful for each day. These things surely bring happiness!

Choose happy :)

Life Lately

life lately

Life has been pretty great lately! I haven't posted too much about life post-wedding (unless you follow me on insta), so I thought I would write about all the fun stuff we've been up to!

life lately

Isaac and I had a day off work and decided to drive over to Santa Cruz and spend the day at the boardwalk. I love this place! There are lots of rides on the boardwalk and the beach has free admission. We laid out on the beach and read a book about how to make connections in the business world. Interesting, I know. But we actually really love that book! It talks about how to show people that you are genuinely interested in them, how to remember people's names, etc. I loved laying out on our blanket and reading the book out loud to Isaac.

After we went to the boardwalk, we drove up the coast a little bit to Capitola beach, which is a smaller, quieter beach town, to have pizza and ice cream. If you're ever in Northern California, Pizza My Heart on Capitola beach is a must!! We bought our pizza and then sat on the benches facing the beach as the sun set. Dreamy.

life lately

We bought some double scoop waffle cones and went exploring around downtown Capitola. Across the street from all the shops, there is a path that goes down to vacation rentals that line a little river. It was the most charming neighborhood I have ever seen! The path crossed right in front of each of the houses and then they each had a small patio right on the water.

My dad's birthday is on fourth of July, so we celebrated America and my dad with a BBQ, swimming, and fireworks. My mom read a list of 40 things that my family said they love about my dad (because he was turning 40).

My brother turned 16, so Isaac and I chaperoned his birthday party at a drive-in movie!

Throwin' it back to Father's Day...Every year we make a crazy tie for my dad to wear to church on Father's Day! And he sure does wear it well.

This little cutie cousin was baptized and it was the sweetest baptism I've ever been to. The spirit was so strong!

Bloggy Friends

bloggy friends

Today I wanted to introduce a few of my favorite bloggy friends to you! Have I ever met them? Not necessarily, but these are blogs/instagrams that add a little extra sunshine to my day and I think they would have the same effect on you! (top to bottom, left to right)

1. Willivia- Olivia is just the most adorable little thing! She blogs for funzies and I always go straight to her posts if I see she's published a new one. Happiness exudes from her blog and instagram, which makes my day a little brighter! Here are some of my favorite posts she has published: Savin' Up// The Not So "Cool"// Surviving Those Two Years

2. Adventures in Every Day Life- Kaylee Coles everybody! I love her photos, I love how much she adores her husband, and, most importantly, she's so creative! I will never get over her design skills in THIS post! Also, her What I Like About You post just shows how much she loves her hubby, and it's the sweetest.

3. For the Love of Basil- I just recently found Hilary's yummy food blog and I love it! I appreciate that her recipes focus on what's healthy and tastes good, rather than food that tastes good but makes me feel like I need to run ten miles after to burn the calories. Isaac doesn't like fish but I love salmon and so I'm making THIS grapefruit salmon whether he likes it or not! And how good does Coconut Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough Ice Cream sound????????

4. Gal Meets Glam- Helloooooo gorgeous! I can honestly say that this is a fashion blogger who has influenced my style. And that's saying a lot, because I always just look at the pictures and move on the next blog! I adore her! So classy, elegant, feminine, natural....I could go on and on. Her Hair Tied With A Bow post is just...perfection.

I hope you enjoy these bloggy friends just as much as I do! Happy Friday peeps!

^ Funny story: Isaac and I went kayaking, obviously. We were all relaxed and having a great ol' time, when all of a sudden something came to my mind...SHARKS. We were sitting ducks that looked like a ginormous seal! We looked like shark food! So, I started freaking out because we had rowed ourselves pretty far away from the shore. A glass-bottom tour boat passed right by us at that exact moment and over the speaker the tour guide said, "And yes, there are sharks in these waters...blue sharks, hammerheads sharks..." And just like that I was pushing my little paddle with all my might back to shore.
